Houston's IAH Airport to Feature TensoSky ETFE Canopies at New Terminal B, Courtesy of Birdair
Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is set to enhance its passenger experience with the addition of innovative ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) canopies at the new Terminal B by Birdair. The groundbreaking design, developed by architectural firm Page Southerland Page will introduce a modern, visually striking feature to the terminal's arrivals and departures.
TensoSky® ETFE is a durable, lightweight material known for its transparency, flexibility, and ability to allow natural light to permeate spaces. The canopies will not only provide a stunning visual effect but also contribute to sustainability by optimizing energy efficiency and reducing the need for artificial lighting. As a result, the project is expected to improve both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the terminal, offering travelers a brighter, more open environment.
This architectural addition is part of the airport's ongoing expansion and modernization efforts aimed at increasing capacity and improving the overall travel experience. Once completed, the new terminal with its ETFE canopies will further solidify IAH’s reputation as a forward-thinking transportation hub.
