Birdair, Inc., the leading specialty contractor of lightweight long-span roofing systems and tensile structures throughout the world, has launched its continuing education course entitled, “Defying Gravity With Tensile Architecture” on The Continuing Architect, an online architect continuing education platform.
Accredited by the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES), successful completion of the course earns one hour toward learning unit requirements, including the health, safety and welfare and sustainable design credit categories.
“This course provides a comprehensive overview of tensile architecture and structures in a convenient format for architects and other industry professionals,” says Kevin Mayer, vice president of business development, sales and marketing for Birdair. “Those that take the course will learn about the benefits of tensile architecture over traditional building techniques, the different types of membrane materials we use, including a new well-insulated and translucent composite membrane, and the design-build process for creating a tensile structure.”
“Defying Gravity With Tensile Architecture” can be accessed at www.thecontinuingarchitect.com. Users can create a new account or log on to an existing one. The course is available online in streaming video and can also be downloaded as a PDF file for offline learning. Upon successful completion of the course and quiz, AIA members will receive continuing education credit.
