Birdair, Inc., the leading specialty contractor of lightweight long-span roofing systems and tensile structures throughout the world, unveiled a new booth display and innovative new TensothermTM with Nanogel® product at the AIA National Convention and Design Exposition in Boston, MA, May 15-17, 2008.
The new booth served to further educate the architectural community on Birdair’s capabilities as a full- service specialty contractor that offers full design and engineering assistance and solutions throughout the design-build process. Architects were eager to learn more about Birdair’s role in all aspects of project design, engineering, installation and maintenance of long-span roofing systems and tensile architecture structures.
Notable Birdair project images adorned a series of panels displayed throughout the booth, including Reliant Stadium, Rome Stadium, San Diego Convention Center, Sony Center and Navy Pier, among others.
Birdair, in partnership with Cabot Corporation and Geiger Engineers, additionally introduced a breakthrough new roofing system at the event. Tensotherm with Nanogel membrane is a Teflon®- coated PTFE membrane next-generation composite roofing system that will now solve the important industry challenge of insulating fabric membrane. The incorporation of Nanogel aerogel into the fabric significantly enhances thermal performance without adding weight or compromising on light diffusion. Architects, engineers and other members of the building community in attendance at the convention were able to learn more about how Tensotherm’s insulative properties will move fabric architecture into a more mainstream sector.
“Birdair’s combination of experience and expertise, coupled with innovative new product offerings like Tensotherm with Nanogel, continues to ensure that no architectural vision is beyond reach,” says Kevin Mayer, Birdair vice president of business development, marketing & sales. “We look forward to continued success in turning architectural dreams into functional, affordable and visually stunning realities.”
