Kuwait Hospital: Illuminating Care with ETFE Innovation
The New Jahra Medical City Kuwait is one of the largest healthcare development projects in the Middle East, Taiyo Europe, Birdair's sister company, has completed the design and construction of the three layered ETFE roof, including 134 tons of steel structure that cover the main atrium with a gross area of 50,000 sq.ft. The Kuwait Hospital's architectural design incorporates an innovative and sustainable element in the form of an ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) film membrane. This remarkable material, with its lightweight and durable properties, has been utilized to create a dynamic and visually striking façade for the hospital. ETFE film offers superior light transmission, making the interior spaces well-lit and welcoming while reducing the need for artificial lighting. Moreover, its insulating properties contribute to energy efficiency by regulating temperature and reducing the hospital's environmental footprint. The ETFE film membrane at the Kuwait Hospital not only enhances the aesthetics of the building but also underscores the institution's commitment to modern, eco-friendly design, providing patients and staff with a comfortable and sustainable healing environment.
