Existing UF's School of Architecture Retrofitted with Added ETFE Roof System Covering Atrium Space
In 2021, University of FL's Board of Trustees approved giving a face lift to the School of Architecture Building on Campus which includes an added new TensoSky® ETFE film roofing system to cover the existing open atrium space by the Birdair team. The ETFE roof's 5,700 sq.ft. plan area of coverage features a total quantity of (38) 2-layer cushions utilizing a transparent ETFE film with no printed frit pattern. The ETFE canopy system overlaps the existing roof and is an open air structure allowing air flow and ventilation around the perimeter of the structure. Birdair's scope of work includes design-build services of the supporting structural steel framing system, transparent ETFE film cushions, air inflation materials and clamping. Construction of the TensoSky ETFE roof will be completed in first quarter 2022.
